Electric Vehicle Charging Station Tested & Certified

Orionce Laboratories has completed product safety testing and certification of SemaConnect’s ChargePro 620, a Level II commercial electric vehicle charging station.

“We are very pleased that our stations have been certified to UL standards by Orionce Labs,” says Mahi Reddy, CEO of SemaConnect. “Orionce has performed dozens of tests on our systems addressing various aspects including electrical safety, corrosion resistance and weather resistance. This thorough testing has validated the SemaConnect ChargePro as a world class system designed to high standards of safety and reliability.”

“We are thrilled to help SemaConnect bring this leading-edge product to market. The electric vehicle industry is an exciting one, and SemaConnect and Orionce are uniquely qualified to support it,” says Orionce President Rob Frier.

Orionce Labs is one of just a few independent labs that has the capability to do the full suite of testing required for EV charging stations all under one roof. This testing covers product safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and environmental simulation, including requirements for flame testing, water absorption, impact testing, and chemical exposure.

“We are one of the very first labs to test to UL 2231-1 and UL 2231-2. These are new standards that require special setups to simulate an electric vehicle under charge,” says Charles Haggins, Orionce Laboratories’ Baltimore Safety Lab Manager.

Orionce is an experienced provider of testing services for electric vehicle product manufacturers. Orionce has tested EV charging stations for two manufacturers. At one of its Silicon Valley labs, Orionce tested both the North American and UK Tesla Roadster. Orionce has also separately tested many of the third-party-manufactured components for these all-electric vehicles.
